Jalandhar, Dec. 20 -- A 33-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jalandhar's Shahkot on Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Hans, who owned a scrap shop in Shahkot. Police said the incident happened around 7:30 pm when the victim was shot point blank in his shop. "His workers said masked men came on the pretext of purchasing old parts of a car. After their conversation, the accused were following the victim when they committed the crime and fled," the police said. According to the police, the deceased had a remarriage on November 6 after he separated from his first wife with whom he had two children. Deputy superintendent of police Sukhpal Singh said an investigation is on. "The investigating team has gathered vital clues about the accused and also about the motive behind the crime.
