Sangram Singh on MMA hat-trick: Wrestling moves helped win bout under 2 mins
India, April 7 -- On Sunday, wrestler Sangram Singh, 40, became the first Indian to win a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight on Argentine soil. He beat French fighter Florian Coudier, 16 years his junior, and completed his hat-trick of MMA wins.
"MMA mein 70-80% wrestling hai. Toh kick, punch ya doosri technique chhorh do, main wrestling technique use karta hoon, jaise uthana, girana, grip karna. That's why the bout got over in 1 minute 45 seconds," he says.
Despite 'sledging' from Florian, Sangram kept his cool. "Face-off se pehle usne mujhe bola, 'Yeh sport young bachhon ke liye hai, veterans ke liye nahin... Iss age mein haddiyan judti nahin hain.' But I didn't react. Later, his coach told him I am a professional wrestler, and Florian came and apologised. I told him, 'Koi baat nahin. Aapke father mujhe jaante honge.' Phir maine kaha, 'Yeh game bachhon ka bhi nahin hai'," he ends....
