Chandigarh, Oct. 12 -- The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) expressed deep concern over the ongoing political tussle between BJP and opposition councillors in the Chandigarh MC, which has brought civic functioning to a standstill. "Both sides seem more interested in political point-scoring than in addressing the genuine concerns of the city's residents," said party leaders. "While the BJP-led administration continues to take unilateral decisions on critical matters like the Manimajra housing project and transfer of V-3 roads without proper consultation or transparency, the opposition councillors have chosen confrontation over constructive participation by walking out and resigning from committees. The end result is that the people of Chandigarh are left suffering due to stalled development and administrative confusion," said local SAD unit presidentCharanjit Singh Villy. Villy added that his party believes that the MC is meant to serve citizens, not party interests. Instead of engaging in blame politics, all councillors must rise above partisan lines to ensure transparent, accountable, and participative governance. Chandigarh deserves a functioning House, not a battleground for ego clashes and political propaganda. "We call upon both BJP and Opposition councillors to stop misusing civic platforms for their political agendas and return to the service, integrity, and democratic functioning for resident welfare ," he added.htc...
