Chandigarh, Aug. 20 -- Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm, patriotic pride, and a vibrant showcase of India's cultural heritage. The school campus was adorned in tricolour decorations as students and staff, gathered to mark this important day in the nation's history. The day began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, by the school manager Rev Sr Anupa, principal Rev Sr Venita Joseph , Sr Alvina, Sr Usha, the school coordinators and the chief guest, Colonel Ashish Tiwari . A unique "green welcome" was extended to the Chief Guest, by presenting a sapling, underscoring the school's commitment to environmental sustainability. The celebrations commenced with a soulful prayer dance, invoking peace and unity. The school Principal welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of remembering our freedom fighters and staying true to the values of the Constitution. A stirring speech by a senior student reflected on the sacrifices made by countless Indians and the role of youth in shaping the future of the country. This was followed by a gripping theatrical performance titled "The Unsung Story of Bravery", which depicted the lives of lesser-known heroes of the freedom struggle, leaving the audience deeply moved. Students then recited patriotic poems, celebrating India's journey and resilience. The school choir delivered a rousing performance titled "Melodies of Freedom", blending classic and contemporary patriotic songs that echoed across the campus. Adding colour and vibrancy, the primary wing students presented an energetic dance performance themed "Azaadi ke Rang, Veeron ke Sang", celebrating the spirit of bravery and freedom. The Chief Guest, Colonel Ashish Tiwari, in his inspiring address, praised the students for their talent and patriotism.
