Mohali, Sept. 11 -- A retired army major who wielded a knife demanding priority treatment in the emergency ward of the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital and attacked a policeman on Sunday before escaping was arrested on Tuesday.
Police identified him as Maj Gobind Bakshish Singh (retd), 61, a resident of Sector 18 in Chandigarh. He will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
He was later found wandering on the streets near Dera Bassi and arrested.
Sleeping on hospital bed
Sources investigating the matter said Maj Bakshish Singh appeared to be mentally upset. He had visited the hospital and the staff informed the police after he was spotted sleeping on a bed there. Maj Bakshish Singh then argued with the staff, wielding a knife and demanding...
