Roadmap ready to give facelift to cities across Punjab, says Kejriwal
Chandigarh, July 8 -- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that a major facelift will be given to Punjab in the coming few months in a mission mode.
Kejriwal said that a comprehensive roadmap has been prepared to give impetus to the development of cities.
"Starting from December, the state government will ensure the provision of water supply, sewerage systems, cleanliness, roads, lights, and sewage treatment plants in 166 cities of the state," he said. The AAP chief made the announcement after he and chief minister Bhagwant Mann dedicated an ultramodern STP with a capacity of 15 million gallons per day capacity to the people of Mohali.
Mann also said that the state government was making similar efforts to save the water of Punjab for the coming generations. He said that as water, air and land had no votes, traditional leaders had ignored them. "Due to massive pollution, degradation of these natural resources took place, thereby causing an irreparable loss to society," he added.
The chief minister said that his government was taking advantage of the vision of Kejriwal, who had already proved his mettle by giving good governance in the national capital. "Punjab has immensely benefited from his expertise and path-breaking initiatives taken in Delhi," he said. Mann also congratulated the officers for smooth execution of the STP project....
