Washington, June 11 -- Health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, once a leading anti-vaccine activist, has removed every member of a scientific committee that advises the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention on how to use vaccines and pledged to replace them with his own picks.
The 17-member Advisory Committee on Immunisation Practices had been in a state of flux since Kennedy took over. Its first meeting this year had been delayed when the US department of health and human services abruptly postponed its February meeting.
President Donald Trump, meanwhile, signalled he would support the arrest of California governor Gavin Newsom over his handling of immigration protests in Los Angeles that flared over the weekend.
