Rohtak, Oct. 18 -- A 40-year-old assistant sub-inspector of Haryana police on Friday committed suicide by hanging himself from the window of the room with a dupatta in a village in Rewari, police said. The ASI was posted in Gurugram and he was recruited to the police in 2004. He also left behind a suicide note in which he levelled allegations of harassment and mental torture against his wife, who is a post-graduate teacher in Delhi. In his complaint to the police, the ASI's father said that his daughter-inlaw was from Manethi village and had left the marital house along with her two children after she got a job two years ago. "My son's wife has been making false complaints against him for the last several months," the father said. "She also took both children and they were living at her parental house in Manethi and she is working in Delhi," he also said. "My son was mentally stressed due to police harassment and mentally tortured by his wife," the complainant added.
