Pune, April 29 -- A 50-year-old retired Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer allegedly shot dead his daughter and grievously injured his son-in-law during the wedding ceremony of the latter's sister in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra, police said, adding a case of murder has been registered against the accused. The incident took place at Ambedkar Nagar, in Chopda tehsil on Saturday night, when Tripti Wagh, 24, along with her husband Avinash Wagh, 28, was attending the haldi ceremony of her sister-in-law Sanskriti. At around 10 pm, retired CRPF sub-inspector Kiran Mangle (50) walked into the function uninvited and fired one round at his daughter Tripti and twice at her husband with his revolver. While the woman died at the spot, her husband is recuperating in Sassoon General Hospital, Pune, a senior officer said, adding that the wedding guests caught the accused and assaulted him. "Based on a complaint from Avinash's mother Priyanka Wagh, an FIR has been registered against Kiran and his son Nikhil, who accompanied him to the function," said Kavita Nerkar, additional superintendent of police, Jalgaon. No arrest has been made yet as the former CRPF officer, who is booked for murder under BNS Section 103 and relevant sections of Arms Act, was admitted in the ICU of a private hospital in Jalgaon, the officer added.
