Chandigarh, Oct. 11 -- Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday asked Congress government to release pending instalments of dearness allowance (DA) to its employees in the state before Diwali. Former minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal said the state government owed them more than Rs 5,000 crore in arrears. "In contrast, the Centre has announced a hike of 5% in dearness relief allowances from July 1 this year to its 50 lakh government employees and pensioners," he said. HTC
