Registration for Rs.10 lakh health cover begins in Tarn Taran, Barnala
Chandigarh, Sept. 24 -- Punjab health minister Dr Balbir Singh on Tuesday launched the registration process for the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which provides cashless treatment worth Rs.10 lakh to every resident of the state.
The scheme, approved by the cabinet on July 10, aims to benefit all 3 crore residents of the state. The registration process was inaugurated virtually from the state health agency office, beginning with two districts-Tarn Taran and Barnala. On the first day, 1,480 families enrolled for the scheme.
Dr Singh said Punjab is the first state to offer such extensive health insurance coverage to every citizen, irrespective of income. "Under the scheme, beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment at all government and over 500 empanelled private hospitals across the state." The only documents required for registration are the voter ID card and the Aadhaar card. The scheme covers a wide range of medical treatments, offering over 2,300 packages encompassing major and minor diseases, as well as accidental surgeries.htc...
