Hyderabad, July 29 -- Hours after Hyderabad police busted a child trafficking and fake surrogacy racket in a Secunderabad-based fertility centre, the police and medical department officials of Andhra Pradesh raided its branch at Vijayawada on Monday only to find it closed and doctors absconding, officials said. "The Vijayawada centre was operating till Sunday, but this morning, it was found locked and none of the doctors, including Dr Karuna and her associate Dr Vaishali was available there," NTR district medical and health officer M Suhasini told reporters. The development comes a day after 8 people were arrested in Hyderabad during a crackdown against "illegal" surrogacy and trafficking. Police said the prime accused Athaluri Namratha is the owner of Universal Srushti Fertility Centres in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. She allegedly charged Rs.30 lakh to Rs.40 lakh from couples seeking children and purchased babies from vulnerable women.htc...
