Rahul meets family of Pahalgam victim in Kanpur, seeks justice
Kanpur, May 1 -- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday visited the family members of Shubham Dwivedi, who was among the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, stressing the need for strict and concrete action against the terrorists and justice for the victim families.
The leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha paid his tributes to Dwivedi at his residence in Maharajpur area in Kanpur and spoke to his family members, including his wife Ashanya, who had witnessed her husband being shot at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam on April 22.
"Met the family members of Shubham Dwivedi who was martyred in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam today and consoled them," Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X, sharing photos of his visit to the bereaved family. "The entire nation stands with the bereaved families in this sad moment. Strict and concrete action should be taken against the terrorists and the victim families should get justice," the former Congress chief said. "For this purpose, the united Opposition has given full support to the government and has demanded a special session of Parliament." Both Gandhi and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the terror attack in Pahalgam and demonstrate a collective resolve.
