Rahul hints at 'H-bomb of vote theft revelations'
Patna, Sept. 2 -- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said he will soon make more disclosures about "vote theft" by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that would be like a "Hydrogen bomb", much bigger than the "atom bomb" he had earlier shown in Mahadevpura assembly segment in Karnataka, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not be able to show his face to the country.
Speaking at the concluding event of his 16-day 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Patna, Gandhi said that Bihar, being a revolutionary state, has given a message to the country that it will not allow "vote chori" in the upcoming assembly polls.
"BJP people showed black flags to us. I want to tell them, listen carefully. Have you heard of anything bigger than an atom bomb? What is bigger than that; it is a hydrogen bomb. In Mahadevapura, we had shown an atom bomb. BJP people, be ready, a hydrogen bomb is coming. People are soon going to find out your (BJP) reality of vote chori," Gandhi said, while addressing a gathering at the Dak Bungalow crossing.
"In the coming time, I am guaranteeing you that after the hydrogen bomb (comes), Narendra Modi ji will not be able to show his face to the country," the leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said, intensifying his attack on the ruling BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Last month, Gandhi had claimed that over 100,000 votes were "stolen" through "manipulation" in Mahadevapura assembly segment in Karnataka, citing data from the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Gandhi was joined by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Vikassheel Insan Party chief Mukesh Sahani, CPI(M) general secretary MA Baby, CPI (M-L) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPI's Annie Raja, TMC MP Yusuf Pathan, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and other leaders of the Opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc.
"We will not let them (BJP) murder the Constitution and that is why we took out a yatra. We got a tremendous response. People came out in large numbers and raised the slogan 'vote chor gaddi chhor' (vote thieves, vacate the throne)," Gandhi said.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra, which started from Sasaram on August 17, ended with a march from Gandhi Maidan to Ambedkar Park, which was halted midway by the police near the Patna high court.
Reacting to Gandhi's "hydrogen bomb" remarks, the BJP said it will turn out to be a damp squib just as his "atom bomb" had turned out to be.
Senior BJP leader and former union minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad said Gandhi and his party have a history of "abusing" PM Modi and by alleging discrepancies in the election process, the party has now insulted the voters as well. "This is arrogance and we will tell voters to punish him for his arrogance," he said.
On Gandhi's Yatra, the senior BJP leader said it will have no impact on the upcoming assembly polls....
