Mohali, Oct. 29 -- A private university student in Mohali was allegedly thrashed and robbed of Rs.4,000 cash and his goggles by a group of men outside his campus on Monday morning. Police said the incident took place around 10 am, shortly after the victim had stepped out of the varsity premises following his lecture. According to police, five men surrounded the student and began threatening him. When the victim pleaded with them not to hurt him, they beat him up and snatched the cash in his possession and his goggles before fleeing thespot. The accused have been identified as Aarush, Jasman Singh. Four unidentified persons have also been booked. The student sustained injuries and was later taken for medical examination. Police have registered a case under Sections 304(2) (snatching), 115(2) voluntarily hurt, 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 191(3) (rioting), and 190 (unlawful assembly) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Efforts are on to identify and arrest the remaining accused, officials said. According to data, Mohali has recorded 131 snatching cases till September this year.
