Punjab youth arrested in Panchkula with 15.55g heroin
Panchkula, May 20 -- The anti-narcotics cell apprehended a youth from Punjab for heroin smuggling near the Abhaypur railway flyover in Sector 19 on Sunday. The accused, identified as Ankit, 25, from Bharat Nagar, Firozpur, was caught following a tip-off. A police raid led to the recovery of 15.55 gm heroin from his possession, for which he failed to provide any legal documentation. Initial investigations suggest that he used to procure the contraband from Firozpur and distribute it in the tricity area. Ankit was produced in a court on Monday and remanded to a two-day police custody. htc
The cyber crime cell has busted an online investment scam involving Rs.56.26 lakh, leading to the arrest of five accused from Rajasthan. The case was registered on April 17 at the cyber crime police station on the complaint of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Sector 35, who said he had invested in a stock trading platform which promised high returns. After transferring the amount into several bank accounts, Kumar was removed from all communication channels. The arrested accused include Mukesh Kumar Gujar, Ramji Lal Meena from Jaipur, and Vijay Kumar Yogi, Aditya Kumar Jain and Tanishq Marmat from Sawai Madhopur. Preliminary investigation reveals that the gang is part of a pan-India cybercrime syndicate, with links across Rajasthan and Gujarat, and suspected foreign connections in Dubai. Following directives from the Haryana Human Rights Commission, an operation targeting illegal mining and unauthorised stone crushers was launched in the Surajpur area on Monday. The campaign involved checking of vehicles involved in suspected illicit mining. Police also stopped vehicles for speeding and causing dust pollution. ACP traffic Sukar Pal Singh informed that one vehicle was fined Rs.10,000 for causing dust pollution. htc
The UT excise and taxation department was able to auction only one out of a total of 11 liquor vends during the sixth round of e-auction held on Monday. The vend, located in Industrial Area, Phase 1, generated a revenue of Rs.4.50 crore, just slightly above the reserve price of Rs.4.38 crore. Now, 10 of the total 97 vends in the city remain unoccupied.htc
