Punjab logs record GST collection in April: Cheema
Chandigarh, May 2 -- Punjab finance minister Harpal Cheema on Friday announced that the state achieved its highest-ever monthly goods and services tax collection in April, marking a historic peak since the tax regime's inception.
The state recorded a gross GST collection of Rs.2,987.38 crore and a net collection of Rs.2,725.08 crore, reflecting a 70.7% year-on-year net growth-an increase of about Rs.1,129 crore over April 2025.
Data from the Government of India confirms that Punjab's 66% growth in post-settlement GST makes it the fastest-growing state in the country, significantly outpacing the national average and leading all North Indian states. While the year-on-year figures were partially influenced by a prior IGST adjustment, the finance minister said that neutralised figures still show a steady adjusted net growth of 10.97%, proving sustained improvements in core tax administration....
