Punjab DGP orders security beef-up
Amritsar, Oct. 15 -- Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday directed district police chiefs to beef up security ahead of Diwali, with increased patrolling, visible police presence and strategic nakas across the state.
Yadav, accompanied by ADGP Anti-gangster Task Force Promod Ban and ADGP Counter Intelligence Amit Prasad, chaired security review meetings in Tarn Taran and Batala, focusing on emerging threats from narco-terrorism and organised crime.
The DGP highlighted attempts by Pakistan to push drugs and weapons into Punjab, calling it a "proxy war," and said anti-drone systems are effectively countering aerial threats.
