Punjab Cong moves NCW, seeks action against Mann
Chandigarh, March 11 -- The Punjab Congress on Wednesday wrote to the National Commission for Women (NCW), seeking action against chief minister Bhagwant Mann for his alleged objectionable remarks against women on the International Women's Day at an event in Sangrur.
In its complaint to NCW chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, the Punjab Congress leaders accused Mann of making objectionable remarks during a government function held at Sunam in Sangrur on March 8.
In the letter by leader of opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa and signed by other MLAs, the Congress leaders alleged that the CM has grossly violated the sanctity of International Women's Day by making deeply 'objectionable, misogynistic, and vulgar remarks' about women during an official government function.
Earlier in the day, Bajwa sought to bring a condemnation resolution in the state assembly against Mann for his alleged comment. However, the speaker refused to admit it....
