protests erupt at bengal land ports over b'desh lynching
Kolkata, Dec. 25 -- Protests against the attack on minorities in Bangladesh continued for the second day in a row in West Bengal, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and members of a Hindu-outfit holding demonstrations near some of the land ports along the India-Bangladesh border in the state on Wednesday.
Members of the Hindu outfit Sanatani Aikya Parishad staged protests near the Integrated Check Post at Petrapole in North 24 Parganas district. Similar demonstrations were also reported near land ports in Malda and Cooch Behar districts in north Bengal. Protests also erupted near the Howrah Bridge, where a scuffle broke out between BJP workers and police when the rally was stopped.
"We gathered to protest against the killing of Hindus in Bangladesh..," BJP MLA Asim Kumar Sarkar said. The recent protests were sparked by the recent lynching of Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old Hindu garment factory worker in Bangladesh's Mymensingh district. htc...
