Princess Diana's time capsule unsealed in London after 34 years
India, Aug. 29 -- A time capsule placed by Princess Diana in 1991 at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London has been opened, revealing a collection of 1990s items, just days before the 28th anniversary of her passing on August 31, 1997.
The capsule offered a glimpse into life in 1991, containing a Kylie Minogue CD, a Casio pocket TV, a solar calculator, and other items that were considered cutting-edge at the time.
The objects were selected by two children - David Watson, then 11, from Devon, and Sylvia Foulkes, then 9, from Norwich- who won a BBC competition 34 years ago. David contributed a Kylie Minogue Rhythm of Love (1990) album, a European passport, a pocket TV, and recycled paper. Sylvia added British coins, seeds from Kew Gardens, a hologram snowflake, and a solar calculator.
Princess Diana also included a photograph of herself and a copy of The Times newspaper featuring Gulf War headlines.
As president of GOSH from 1989 until her death, Diana played a key role in the hospital's Wishing Well Appeal, helping raise £54 million - around £200 million today - which was the largest charity campaign in the UK at the time, according to GOSH. HTC...
