India, Dec. 13 -- Prada's Kolhapuri chapter is getting bigger and louder after months of debate. The Italian luxury label has formally signed an MoU with Maharashtra and Karnataka bodies to produce a limited-edition run of 2,000 Kolhapuri-inspired sandals. This comes after the brand faced criticism over its Kolhapuri-inspired footwear at its Spring 2026 menswear show without initially crediting Indian artisans. Now, the sandals will be made in India, bringing traditional craftsmen into Prada's global supply chain.
