Prada's Rs.84k Kohlapuris, now with Indian artisans
India, Dec. 13 -- Prada's Kolhapuri chapter is getting bigger and louder after months of debate. The Italian luxury label has formally signed an MoU with Maharashtra and Karnataka bodies to produce a limited-edition run of 2,000 Kolhapuri-inspired sandals.
This comes after the brand faced criticism over its Kolhapuri-inspired footwear at its Spring 2026 menswear show without initially crediting Indian artisans.
Now, the sandals will be made in India, bringing traditional craftsmen into Prada's global supply chain. Priced at around €800 (Rs.84,000), the footwear will be retailed across 40 Prada stores worldwide and on the brand's official website from February. htc...
