Chandigarh, Oct. 29 -- Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) announced plans to invest Rs.956 crore over the next five years to upgrade its power infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the city. The proposal was submitted to the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC). The firm has planned to invest Rs.212 crore in network improvement, including installation of 66kV grid-sub-station, new switchgear, interconnector, 11kV new feeder, compact sub-station etc. Rs. 273 crore will focus on operational reliability and reducing losses, while Rs.203 crore is earmarked for overhauling metering and related infrastructure. The plan also allocates Rs.132 crore to adopt advanced technologies, such as digital documentation, IT data centers, cyber security measures, and paperless operations, and Rs. 123 crore for future-ready facilities, including a metering lab and skill development centre. To address current infrastructure challenges and potential supply failures, CPDL proposes installing 66kV underground feeders worth Rs.79 crore from the 220 KV PGCIL Hallo Majra grid substation to multiple sectors and substations....
