Mohali, Nov. 9 -- Mohali police on Friday demolished an illegally constructed property belonging to a drug peddler in the Amb Sahib area of Jagatpura. Police officials said the action was part of the ongoing drive against drug traffickers and those involved in the illegal drug trade. The accused, Bhagirath, whose name has been linked to several narcotics cases registered under the NDPS Act, had allegedly built the property using proceeds from drug money. After confirming that the building had been constructed through illegal means, the authorities proceeded with the demolition. Police reached the site in the morning and used heavy machinery to bring down the structure. The demolition was supervised by DSP City-2 Harsimran Bal, accompanied by IT City SHO PS Grewal and Sohana SHO Amandeep Singh. According to officials, the accused had been running drug operations from the premises for several months. The police had earlier arrested him and seized narcotics from his possession. DSP Harsimran Bal said police will continue strict action against drug smugglers and those using illegal properties for criminal activities. "Our message is clear: those involved in the drug trade will not only face criminal prosecution but will also lose their illegally acquired assets," he said....
