The accused were identified as Surinder Singh, Harjot Singh alias Anda, both from Dashmesh Nagar; Raman Kumar from Model Town and Mohammad Ashraf from Karyani Talab in Narwal. "We have come to know from media reports that the fourth accused, Mohammad Ashraf, is related to a sitting MP. However, we don't have evidence as of now to corroborate it," said a senior police officer. "These individuals were found to be actively involved in the criminal conspiracy that led to the recent firing incident," he added. The accused have a criminal background and are known to have links to organised criminal activities in the region. The officer said that these criminals, while returning from court after police obtained their remand, threatened people of dire consequences if they cooperated in police probe. "They were being taken to the spot of the crime for preparation of a pointing-out memo. The accused attempted to disrupt the process by threatening civilians at the scene and trying to instil fear among the public", he said. "The accused attempted to intimidate the police team on duty. In response, the police used necessary force to contain the situation. Reinforcements were called, and with coordinated effort, the accused were brought under control and safely transported back to the police station," said the officer....
