JAMMU, Aug. 22 -- Security has been stepped up in Jammu after a pigeon carrying a note threatening an attack on the city's railway station was caught near the India-Pakistan border, officials aware of the matter said on Thursday. On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, BSF personnel intercepted the pigeon in the Khatmarian area of the RS Pura sector. A chit tied to the bird's claw carried a message suspectedly warning of an IED blast at a Jammu station. The chit, written in Urdu and English, had scattered sentences like "Jammu Station IED Blast The End", "Kashmir is ours", and "Time has come", said an official. Confirming the development, a BSF official said: "BSF caught a pigeon a couple of days ago with this message in RS Pura sector. We handed it over to police." HT could not independently verify the authenticity of the chit. Subsequently, the Jammu Police, along with the Government Railway Police, has tightened security at the Jammu railway station. "Pakistan is a deceitful country, always trying to foment trouble in J&K. So, any mischief can't be overlooked by us, though someone might have tried to play a prank as well," said another police officer.htc...
