Palak Tiwari: Not easy to be a Gen Z actor as our audience has evolved

alak Tiwari is grateful to have worked with two of the biggest stars in the film industry - Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023) and Sanjay Dutt in her latest release, The Bhootnii. "I feel very blessed. It's a great story to tell my grandkids if I ever have them. I'd say: 'You know these super duper stars Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan? I've done films with them'," she says. Though her debut was with Salman, the film failed to impress. In fact, even her role in it was menial. Does she regret her choice for starting out? She says, "That debut was exactly what I'd hoped for. In my first film, I didn't want to be the centre of attention, as I just wanted to learn."
Being a Gen Z actor, the 24-year-old says navigating the industry has "become challenging". "That's because our audience has evolved and has become more critical. They are now aware of what good cinema is, and have high expectations. That's an accolade that you want to work towards," she says.
Meanwhile, she and her other Gen Z contemporaries have lived their lives in the social media era and have seen the bad side of it too. While most consider online trolling a curse, she has a different perspective.
"The best part is that it fortifies you. It makes you okay with all the places that you lack in, as it makes you open to criticism. Now, nothing that people say offends me. You can never make me cry and that goes for all actors of our generation. We aren't affected when people say mean things to us as we've heard worse," the actor ends....
