Palak Muchhal on world record: Truly grateful
India, Nov. 15 -- Singer Palak Muchhal, known for hits such as Meri Aashiqui (Aashiqui 2, 2013) and Hua Hain Aaj Pehli Baar (Sanam Re, 2016), has now made it to the Guinness Book of World Records - not for her music, but for her humanitarian work. Through her Palak Palash Charitable Foundation, Palak has helped fund 3,947 heart surgeries for underprivileged children across India.
Speaking to us about the achievement, the 33-year-old says, "I'm truly grateful for the honour. I have been singing for heart patients since I was seven years old. I have been running concerts called 'Save Little Hearts,' where the remuneration from every performance goes towards the surgeries of children suffering from heart diseases."
She adds, "The cause I'm working for allows me to experience human emotions every day. The doctors allow me to be in the operation theatre and I recite the Gita, navkar mantra and shlokas. I celebrate when the doctor tells me, 'Badhai ho Palak, tumhara bachcha bach gaya.'"
According to reports, the singer will have another reason to celebrate soon, as her brother, composer Palash, is marrying the vice-captain of the Indian women's national team, Smriti Mandhana. When asked about it, she says, "It's too early to say anything, but all of us are very happy."...
