Over 50 artistes to honour Zakir Hussain in Mumbai on his first death anniversary
India, Dec. 11 -- Over 50 artistes will come together at Mumbai's NCPA on December 14 and 15 for Maestro Forever, a two-day tribute marking the first death anniversary of tabla legend Zakir Hussain. The stellar line-up includes John McLaughlin, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Louis Banks, and Shankar Mahadevan.
Among them is tabla exponent Aditya Kalyanpur, who first shared the stage with Hussain at age eight in the iconic Wah Taj ad. "He always believed in celebrating life through music. For juniors, seniors, legends alike, it's a blessing to offer this small hajri in his memory," Kalyanpur tells us, adding, "Every syllable of music will be in his honour. Every note we play will be a prayer."
The late maestro's wife Antonia, daughters Anisa and Isabella, and his brothers will also attend the tribute....
