Fazilka, Jan. 28 -- A 'Kanya Samman Samaroh' (girl child felicitation ceremony) was organised in Fazilka on Sunday, with Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria attending as the chief guest along with his wife Anita Kataria. The event, which conveyed a message of security and empowerment of the girlchild, was jointly organised by the Sarhad Social Welfare Society and Karan Gilhotra Foundation, according to a press release. As many as 251 newborn girls and their families were given bicycles, blankets, baby suits, babycare, mothercare kits and gift hampers. A special draw was also held, in which 21 lucky families were given almirahs.
