Orange alert for dense fog in Punjab till January 7
Chandigarh, Jan. 4 -- Amid bitingcold conditions across the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog across Punjab from January 4 to January 6.
Orange alert is the second highest of the four-coloured IMD warning system, which asks people to be prepared.
IMD defines very dense fog as visibility between 0 and 50 metres, dense fog as between 51 and 200 metres, and moderate fog as between 201 and 500 metres.
The Punjab government has already ordered closure of schools across the state till January 7 to safeguard the health and safety of students and school staff amid worsening winter conditions.HTC...
