Opposition misleading people on land pooling scheme, says CM
Sangrur/Chandigarh/Amritsar, July 22 -- Chief minister Bhagwant Mann urged the people not to be swayed by what he termed as misleading propaganda from the Opposition regarding the land pooling scheme, in Sangrur on Monday. At the same time, the Congress organised a protest in Mohali while Amritsar BJP leaders submitted a memorandum to Punjab governor against the scheme.
Addressing a gathering after disbursing grants worth Rs.31.30 crore among 70 villages under the Dhuri assembly for development works, the CM assured that no land would be forcibly acquired.
He accused the opposition of hoodwinking the facts to misinform the people about this scheme for vested political interests. "Land will be taken from only those farmers who agree under the policy. Farmers will get commercial and residential plots under the scheme," he said.

The Congress staged a protest in front of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) office against the land pooling scheme. Warring said it was a "subtle ploy" of the AAP government to "rob" farmers of their land. "Who will hand over one acre of land for a thousand yards in return?" he questioned.
A delegation of BJP leaders from Amritsar called on Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria and submitted a memorandum against the land pooling policy. The delegation comprised former MLAs Manjit Singh Manna and Amarpal Singh Boni Ajnala besides Manraj Chhina, Sushil Devgan and Mukhwinder Singh Rajasansi among others.
Chhina said, "In Amritsar district, more than 4,400 acres of land is being grabbed in the name of land pooling."...
