Oppn targets AAP govt over debt, law & order
Chandigarh, March 17 -- Punjab Congress on Monday said that the AAP government's claims of fulfilling all promises are a lie.
Taking a jibe at the AAP government, Congress alleged that it was an attempt aimed at masking administrative shortcomings, including fiscal mismanagement, deteriorating law and order situation and failure to tackle the drug menace.
Leader of the opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa, alleged, "The incidents of organised crime, extortion threats, attacks on police stations and political leaders, and other criminal activities have increased during the past four years." Bajwa added that the government's repeated claims of making the state drug-free have also fallen flat.
Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said that under the AAP government, the state has been pushed to the bottom of the fiscal health index.
"The total debt of the state has crossed 4.17 lakh crores. The state has fallen to the bottom on the fiscal health index as revealed by the NITI Ayog in its recent report," Warring added.
Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar also slammed the AAP government over the rising burden of debt and deteriorating law and order. Jakhar, in a statement, said the CM cannot escape responsibility by calling gangsters an international problem.
"People are living in fear and insecurity," Jakhar alleged, adding that under the pretext of free electricity, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is being pushed toward bankruptcy....
