Chandigarh, Oct. 3 -- The Chandigarh Police have arrested one accused in connection with the recent firing incident inside a house at Dhanas EWS Colony, which left a man injured. The accused has been identified as Virender, who was arrested by the Sarangpur police. He was produced before a district court on Thursday and sent to police remand. During interrogation, Virender reportedly confessed that local resident Parvesh alias Bawa, who is also wanted in several cases, was with him at the time of the attack. Police have recovered a weapon from Virender, while multiple teams of the Crime Branch, Operations Cell and District Crime Cell are working to trace and arrest the remaining accused. According to police sources, Parvesh Bawa has previously been convicted in an NDPS case and had been absconding. He and the victim, identified as Amarjit, alias Tota, share a long-standing rivalry. Tota has alleged that Bawa had attacked him in 2021, after which he retaliated in 2023, leading to an ongoing cycle of revenge. On September 27, Tota was at his residence in Dhanas EWS Colony with his friends Abhishek, Sunil Kumar and another acquaintance around 9.20 pm when a group of seven to eight masked assailants arrived in a car, armed with hammers and sticks. While Tota managed to lock himself inside the house, the assailants allegedly tried to break the gate. When Sunil attempted to shut the rear gate, the attackers opened fire, and a bullet struck Sunil in the hand. The assailants fled the scene after issuing threats....
