Nuh: 3 ex-revenue officials arrested
India, June 26 -- Haryana's anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested three officials of the revenue department for their alleged involvement in facilitating illegal mining activities in Nuh, officials said on Wednesday. The ACB has also announced a cash reward of Rs.1.5 lakh for information on three mining syndicate operators wanted in multiple cases of environmental violations. According to officials, the arrested officers, posted in the land consolidation department in Nuh, were allegedly colluding with mining syndicates by manipulating land records and allowing illegal excavation of Aravalli Hills and government land.
Inspector Jaipal Singh, (ACB Mewat unit), said that all three officials had retired in the last two years and their large-scale connivance had surfaced in helping those involved in illegal mining during their service tenure. "They were manipulating documents and data to help in illegal mining for which various complaints were filed," Singh added.
"Their actions have not only caused significant revenue loss to the state but also aggravated environmental degradation in the fragile Aravalli belt," said a senior ACB officer, requesting anonymity.
The ACB has intensified its search for three key members of the mining syndicate, identified as habitual offenders behind large-scale illegal excavation and sand mining operations in Nuh. They are currently absconding, officials added.
According to officials, a total cash reward of Rs.1.5 lakh has been declared for information leading to their arrest.
Illegal mining in Nuh, particularly in the protected Aravalli Hills, has been a longstanding concern, with authorities under pressure to clamp down on mafia networks operating with administrative support.
