No relief from heat even at night
Chandigarh, May 19 -- The steady rise in day temperature over the past few days is extending even to night, with the minimum temperature soaring from 26degC on Saturday to 29.1degC on Sunday, 3.1 degrees above normal.
This is the highest night temperature yet this season and a jump of 10 notches in just two days, leaving residents uncomfortable even after sunset.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributed this to an incoming Western Disturbance (WD) that led to cloudy weather, trapping heat.
As per IMD officials, the minimum temperature can further climb to 31degC over the next three days.
The maximum temperature, meanwhile, dropped due to the WD. It fell below 40degC again, settling at 38.4degC on Sunday, 0.5 degree below normal, compared to 40.8degC on Saturday. Over the next three days, however, it may return to the 40degC-41degC range. HTC...
