No let-up: Mercury climbs to 43.9degC
Chandigarh, June 11 -- The city's maximum temperature continued to soar, going up to 43.9degC on Tuesday, five degrees above normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this is the highest day temperature of the season and is further likely to cross 44degC on Wednesday.
Hot westerly winds, locally called the loo winds, were active on Tuesday and humidity at 51% made the temperature feel even warmer. Heatwave conditions continued for the second consecutive day in the city. The minimum temperature also rose from 28degC to 28.7degC, 2.4 degrees above normal.
Over the next three days, it may rise further to anywhere between 30degC and 31degC, giving no respite even after sunset.HTC...
