Nitish releases new tranche of promised Rs.10K to Bihar women
Patna, Nov. 29 -- Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday released another tranche of Rs.10,000 to one million women under Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, an initiative of the state government to boost entrepreneurship among women.
The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September, part of a mega welfare push by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government ahead of the assembly elections. So far, 15.6 million women have availed the benefits of the scheme, the CM said.
"Many women have started the business activity of their choice with the money and those who would do well would get up to Rs.2 lakh further assistance to improve their business and move towards self reliance," Kumar said after releasing the latest tranche.
This is the first time money has been disbursed to the beneficiaries since the recently concluded elections in Bihar. Thanking voters, especially women, for bringing the NDA back to power, Kumar said, "It was a matter of happiness that another one million women were getting Rs.10,000 each today for starting their own enterprise."...
