Chandigarh, Dec. 7 -- With a feeble Western Disturbance (WD) approaching, Chandigarh's night temperature rose by 1.8 degrees on Saturday as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). While rain is unlikely due to the WD, the minimum temperature may rise further on Sunday, officials said. The minimum temperature rose from 6.1degC on Friday to 7.9degC on Saturday, still 2.7 degrees below normal. This is the highest that the night temperature has gone since the start of the month. As per IMD officials, the incoming WD is bringing warmer Westerly winds with it. These winds are also more humid which is likely to further affect the minimum temperature on Sunday. However, from next week, the temperature is likely to drop again. Because of partly cloudy weather, the maximum temperature dropped from 23.9degC on Friday to 23.3degC on Saturday, 2.1 degrees below normal. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature will remain between 23degC and 24degC while the minimum temperature will remain between 8degC and 9degC. Meanwhile, the air quality index (AQI) of the city also returned to the moderate bracket on Saturday after turning poor on Friday.
