Mohali, July 21 -- Deputy commissioner Girish Dayalan on Saturday pulled up officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Zirakpur Municipal Council (MC) for failing to close illegal accesses to the Chandigarh-Ambala national highway.

Dayalan also reprimanded them for non-functional streetlights and open drains, even as both NHAI and MC officialskept passing the buck regarding their failure to act.

"No laxity will be tolerated," Dayalan warned the officials while asking them to fix the traffic lights immediately at Singhpura, near McDonald's restaurant in Zirakpur.
