India, Dec. 31 -- The Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh National Highway (NH-105) four-laning project, a critical 34.5-km corridor spanning Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, was launched in April 2022 with a completion target of September 2024. Why it matters: It is the arterial lifeline for the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial belt, housing over 90% of Himachal's industries. With over 20,000 vehicles passing the stretch daily, four-laning would allow smoother commute. Challenges: The original contractor had abandoned the site midway due to land acquisition hurdles and issues with shifting the high-tension power lines. The cost has now climbed to Rs.670 crore.Where it stands: Only 45% of the work has been completed. The NHAI is in the fourth round of bidding. If contracts are awarded soon, officials estimate completion by 2027....
