new safari route set to be opened in Corbett
Haldwani, Dec. 30 -- The administration of Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) has decided to open a new safari area in the park, with an aim to ease pressure on existing tourist zones. Jungle safaris in the new area, Phulai Chaur, are expected to begin soon, once a temporary bridge over the Ramganga river is completed, forest officials said.
CTR director Saket Badola said that the Dhikala zone of Corbett National Park is the most popular among tourists and Phulai Chaur falls within this zone. "Phulai Chaur provides an extremely suitable natural habitat for wildlife. However, during the monsoon season, rising water levels in the Ramganga river make access to this area difficult. Once the water recedes, the CTR administration initiates construction of a temporary bridge to facilitate movement," he said. HTC...
