Panchkula, Nov. 11 -- An elderly couple had a close shave after a fire suddenly broke out in their house in Sector 2, resulting in the destruction of property worth lakhs. According to information, the fire quickly engulfed the house, reducing household articles to ashes and leaving the walls charred. The elderly couple was inside the house when the blaze started but were safely brought out. LPG cylinders in the house were also removed in time. Neighbours reported the incident to the 112 emergency helpline, following which fire tenders rushed to the scene and commenced efforts to control the flames. Sector 2 police post in-charge Tejinder Pal Singh confirmed the fire and that the residents had been safely rescued, though household items were extensively damaged.
