mystery shrouds death of US citizen at Kapurthala rehab centre
Jalandhar, Oct. 26 -- A 20-year-old US citizen, dealing with psychiatric issues, died under mysterious circumstances in a rehabilitation centre in Pattar Kalan village of Kapurthala on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Amarbir Singh of Kapurthala, who was admitted to a centre named GurmatVidhalaya.
Kartarpur deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Narinder Singh Aujla said they received information from Kapurthala civil hospital about the victim being brought dead to the civil hospital following which the team of senior officials rushed to the spot.
"The family of the victim Amarbir Singh, a US citizen, reached India a month ago along with his family. He was facing some psychiatric issues due to which his family admitted him to a rehabilitation-cum-drug de-addiction centre recently for his treatment," DSP Aujla said. He added that the victim was not a drug addict.
"A special team was constituted to check the documents of the rehabilitation centre. After due verification, the centre has been sealed. A board of doctors has been set up for the post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death," the DSP said....
