More than 300K trees to be cut in Maharashtra
Mumbai, April 18 -- The Maharashtra state board for wildlife has cleared a proposal to divert nearly 845 hectares of forest land - which would include cutting over 300,000 trees and relocating six villages - in Thane and Palghar districts in the next five years to make way for the Gargai Dam, officials said on Thursday. The board, following a meeting chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, also gave its approval for projects in the forest area of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve....
