Mohali, Aug. 26 -- A 26-year-old man died by suicide on Sunday evening after jumping from the 16th floor of Purab Premium Apartments, Sector 88. According to police, the man left his home around 4 pm on Sunday, telling his family that he was going to meet a friend at Purab Premium Apartments. However, upon reaching the society, he did not meet his friend. Instead, he went to the 16th floor of one of the towers and took the extreme step. Bystanders immediately called the police and a team arrived at the scene. "He had slipped into depression and would often cry through the night remembering his father, despite his family's efforts to console and support him," an officer said.
