Mohali: 2 more stubble burning cases registered
Mohali, Oct. 24 -- Mohali police have registered two fresh cases against stubble burning - one in Handesra and the other in Raipur Sohana.
The new cases come a day after two similar FIRs were registered in Handesra and Sethan Majra, taking the total number of farm fire cases registered this week to four.
Last year, Mohali reported 133 cases of stubble burning, with FIRs registered in 27 of them.
The case has been registered under Section 223 (disobedience to order promulgated by a public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The punishment depends on the severity of the disobedience and may include jail up to six months or one year, or fine to the tune of Rs.2,500 to Rs.5,000, or both.
Police said both incidents were reported during routine patrolling.
Acting on the inputs, teams reached the respective spots and found paddy residue being burnt.
