MOB VANDALISES u.p. toll plaza OVER ASSAULT ON ARMY JAWAN
Meerut, Aug. 19 -- Nearly two days after a 26-year-old army jawan was tied to a pole, kicked, punched and attacked with sticks by a group of toll plaza employees, angry village residents vandalised the Bhuni toll plaza on the Meerut-Karnal highway on Monday .
Meerut superintendent of police (Rural) Rakesh Kumar Mishra said, "Enraged by the attack on (an) army man, a group of villagers staged a protest at the toll plaza. The situation has been brought under control. Regular movement of traffic continues."
The attack took place allegedly after he requested the staff for a quick passage so he could catch a flight to rejoin duty in Srinagar.
NHAI later said the concessionaire of the plaza was fined Rs.20 lakh....
