Aizawl, July 11 -- A boxing coach has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing four boxers in Aizawl, police said on Thursday. According to police, Lalthlengliana was arrested on Tuesday and booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) for allegedly sexually abusing four sub-junior female boxers who represented Mizoram at the 6th Junior (U-17) Boys and Girls National Boxing Championships recently held in Rohtak, Haryana. Relatives of the four girls filed a complaint with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Aizawl, following which an FIR was registered against Lalthlengliana at Aizawl's All Women police station. Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested on Tuesday, police said. "The coach was arrested, he produced at court and is being held at Aizawl's central jail," duty officer at Aizawl's All Women police station said. According to the complainants, the accused used to sexually abuse the boxers during their training sessions at the Mizoram Boxing Association (MIZBA) boxing hall in the Ramhlun Sports Complex in Aizawl. "Lalthlengliana made inappropriate physical advances during training sessions at the MIZBA facility in Ramhlun Sports Complex. He even touched them inappropriately before the team departed for Rohtak," one complainant said.
