miscreants open fire outside sarpanch's residence in Kapurthala
Jalandhar, Oct. 17 -- Unidentified assailants opened fire at the residence of a local sarpanch in Bahani village of Kapurthala district in the early hours of Thursday. According to police, the incident occurred around 2 am when two masked youths on a motorcycle approached the residence-cum-dairy shop of the sarpanch and fired multiple gunshots at the main gate before fleeing the scene. The matter came to light later in the morning when the sarpanch discovered empty bullet shells lying outside his premises.
Investigating officer Major Singh said the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed near the site. "In the footage, the accused can be seen firing six consecutive rounds at the gate," he said.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons based on the complaint of the sarpanch.
"We have collected all relevant evidence from the spot and sent it for forensic analysis," added the officer....
